PADI Dive Center · Cozumel · Since 1980

Forty years on the same reefs, and we still take eight divers at a time.

Careyitos Divers has been serving this island and the diving community since 1980. Two divemasters for a maximum of eight divers, dives that end when your air ends, and ninety minutes of real lunch in between.

What is actually different about diving with us

None of this is a promotion. It is simply how Ricardo has run the boat since he started, and it is why people who dive with us once tend to come back with their children.

Eight divers, two divemasters

We prefer groups of no more than eight divers with two divemasters. Filling more seats would be easy and it would ruin the thing people come here for.

No dive is cut short

Our dives are not limited by time. They are only limited by your own air consumption. Nobody gets called up because a schedule says the hour is over.

Sites chosen for you, not for us

We will not choose dive sites that are inappropriate for the experience of our divers. Tell us honestly where you are and we will put you somewhere you will enjoy.

We go slowly on purpose

Our average speed is ten to twelve knots, because high speeds are hard on the creatures that live here. The ride out is part of the day rather than something to endure.

Where to start

Seven ways to get in the water with us, from a single afternoon to a professional rating. Prices are per person in US dollars, exactly as they are quoted on the dock.

Booking

How booking works

Reserve your place online with a deposit and settle the rest when you arrive. No accounts, no hidden fees, and a real person on the other end.

  1. Pick your day

Choose a dive or a course and a departure date that suits you. Availability on the calendar is live, so what you see is what is left on the boat.

  2. Pay the deposit

A 25 percent deposit holds your place. You will get a confirmation with your reference and the exact balance owing, in writing.

  3. Meet at the marina

Arrive at the boat between 8am and 9am with your certification card. We will have your tanks, your weights and your lunch already loaded.

  4. Settle the balance

Pay the remaining balance at the dock in cash or by card on the day you dive. Nothing else is taken from you before then.

About

A day on the boat

A 38 foot Bertram with twin engines, a large sundeck, a bathroom on board and enough room to stretch out between dives. It is not a cattle boat and it is not trying to be.

After the first dive we head back toward shore for lunch, which is a proper spread rather than a bag of crisps. Purified water, fresh fruit, guacamole, chips, tuna salad, turkey, ham, fresh bread, crackers, cheese and salsa, with cookies for dessert.

The surface interval is ninety minutes. You eat, you sit in the sun, you talk to the crew, and then you get back in the water properly rested rather than gasping to make a schedule.
